The Zamioculcas zamiifolia – or ZZ plant — is a tropical perennial native to Eastern Africa that has become popular worldwide in recent years due to its tolerance to a wide range of conditions. The ZZ grows smooth, naturally shiny leaves that range from bright lime in their youth to emerald green in their maturity.
Pot size: 14 cm (diameter)
Plant size: 55 cm (without the pot)
ZZ’s are perfect for beginner plant parents. While they do best with bright indirect light, they are adaptable and tolerate partial shade and low light conditions. ZZ’s are happiest in well-draining soil. They should be watered thoroughly when the soil is dry, but are forgiving of infrequent watering, making them perfect for plant parents who are just learning or do not have as much time to spend on their plants as they would like.
Low to medium light tolerant
The ZZ’s bulbous roots called rhizomes naturally store water making it a drought-tolerant plant, water once a week
Poisonous if ingested
